Goal: $12.5M to Influence Achievement Through Scholarship, Student Aid and Fellowships
A scholarship to St. Joe’s has opened the door to higher education for many talented, hard-working women and men from the New York City region and Long Island. Many were the first in their families to attend college, and their dreams of giving back to their communities as teachers, nurses and small business owners are woven into the fabric of SJNY. Our commitment to future generations of students must continue to include financial support for their success.
The leadership of St. Joseph’s University, New York remains steadfast in its commitment to an affordable tuition and merit- and need-based financial aid. More than 85% of current students receive financial aid; 95% of new students in 2023 reported that the cost of attendance after financial aid was most important in their decision to attend.
Even so, more than 46% of students in the same survey agreed with the statement that “college expenses cause a significant financial strain for me and my family.” The Dare to Be Campaign’s commitment to secure $12.5 million in new scholarships and fellowships will ensure that St. Joe’s remains affordable and accessible, and that students will have access to high-impact practices like research, travel and service.
By prioritizing scholarships and financial aid as the largest campaign priority, we can ensure that St. Joe’s will be a home for everyone, from every walk of life. We are a diverse and dynamic community – representing New York City and Long Island – and we will continue to meet the needs of the communities we serve.
